Code of Ethics for Environmentally Responsible Travel

Eco-Explorations ventures to areas with fragile environments where a high quality experience depends on the conservation of our natural resources, the protection of our environment, and the preservation of our cultural heritage.

We must always remember we are visitors and must tread carefully. As adventure travelers we can do much for the world simply by understanding what we see, by learning to care, and acting responsibly and with respect to our different and threatened environments.

You can help us provide a high quality experience for you and future guests by giving consideration to the following:

  • Enjoy our diverse natural and cultural heritage and help us to protect and preserve it. Respect traditions, customs, and local regulations.
  • Avoid activities which threaten wildlife or plant populations, or which may be potentially damaging to our natural environment. Be an unobtrusive observer.
  • Follow good wilderness practices. Keep on trails. Don't destroy vegetation. Acquaint yourself with proper techniques of back country hygiene and waste disposal. Leave only your footsteps.
  • Learn about the environmental issues affecting your destination. Your actions can help resolve critical environmental problems from deforestation, to wildlife poaching, to pollution and waste/garbage/litter.
  • Many plant and animal species are close to extinction. Review the endangered species list.
  • Support the areas and local economies you visit. Your tourist dollar can promote low-impact, sustainable economic development.
  • Report environmental abuses to authorities, environmental organizations or others who can take corrective action.
